National Parks Walk - 10 days
This walking tour is aimed at seeing the best national parks around Las Vegas. Ideal for hiking and outdoor enthusiasts this tour allows you to truly discover the wonder of these amazing western national parks.
Our journey begins in Las Vegas where we begin our trip with a short drive through the Mojave Desert and into the state of Utah. We are destined for Zion National Park.
Upon arrival to Zion you are free to choose from a variety of beautiful (and short) trails to stretch your legs. Some of the favourites include Canyon Overlook, Emerald Pools and Gateway to the Narrows. Alternatively choose one of the longer hike such as that to Angel’s Landing that offers amazing views of the surrounding area. For the intrepid hiker you may choose to venture into the deep of Zion Narrows themselves (weather permitting). We spend two nights in this amazing national park to truly enjoy the hiking opportunities on offer.
Our next stop is Bryce Canyon National Park where we will enjoy hikes on the Navajo Loop or Queen’s Garden Loop trails. From the viewpoints along the way we can take in the numerous spires, hoodoos and pinnacles of this amazing canyon. Arches National Park offers easy hikes through awe-inspiring sandstone landscapes with wonderful names such as Devil’s Garden and the Fiery Furnace.
For summer participants you may find your time is best spent floating on the nearby Colorado River. While winter participants may want to explore the charms of the small town of Moab, a very eclectic town that is the gateway to Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. From our time near Moab we head straight to Canyonlands National Park. We embark on an afternoon hike that ends at Dead Horse Point for a spectacular view of the surrounding canyon and luckily another picture perfect sunset.
Next we visit Monument Valley, the greatest treasure of the Navajo Nation’s. We set up camp in full view of the massive “monuments” before our heading deep into the backcountry of this valley. Our 4-wheel drive and hiking tour will take us to the famous as well as lesser-known sights in the park before we come to the end of the road.
Using our own local Navajo guide we will trek deep into the park where non-Natives rarely travel. From wonder to wonder our next stop is the Grand Canyon National Park. This place is so huge it has never been adequately described, photographed or painted. Take time to truly explore the canyon with a rim top walk or a hike to the base of the canyon.
When you have had your fill of hiking why not opt for a different perspective on an optional helicopter tour. This experience is often rated one of the most amazing on the trip and not to be missed. Enjoy contemplation on the canyon rim, enjoy the beautiful sunsets or join a ranger guided walk before we leave this awesome place headed back to Sin City, Las Vegas.
Please Note: Grand Canyon National Park has strict regulations that limit group sizes. Additionally the park dose not allow guided hikes therefore our tour leaders will provide you with directions, briefings and maps but they are not permitted to walk with you on the trails.
