Arachnids

Arachnids cover all of the following: spiders, scorpions, harvestmen, ticks and mites. They are different from other insects because they have eight legs instead of six.

They are mostly carnivorous, feeding on the pre-digested body of insects and other small animals. Many arachnids are venomous - they secrete poison from specialised glands to kill prey of enemies. Other arachnids are parasites, some of which are carriers of disease.

Arachnids usually lay eggs.
