Voluntary Work
Volunteers will be working with underprivileged children and teenagers, helping to equip them with the necessary tools for success in the future. Even more importantly, they'll give kids, many of whom have become disillusioned with life, the opportunity to express themselves and have fun!
Volunteers will be working hands on at community centres, soup kitchens, shelters and halfway houses. Volunteers must be flexible as tasks and schedules vary according to the project’s needs at the time. First and foremost, however, you will spend time with children and act as a role model for them.
Main duties include:
- Organising educational and/or recreational activities for the children
- Playing games and sports with the children
- Taking informal English classes
- Collecting donations of food, clothing and materials
- Planning and teaching special workshops e.g. drama, dance, songs, art, languages
- Preparing and serving meals and snacks
- Working on administrative tasks
- Organising field trips
