Travelling alone but do not want to share a room?

Thailand Adventure From talking to 'grown ups' we realise that you may not want to share a room with a fellow volunteer and may crave a little space of your own.

With this in mind we have made it possible on our popular Thailand Adventure programme to opt for a single room.

In this varied programme, volunteers will immerse themselves into Thai culture, its traditions, its diverse and beautiful landscapes and get a chance to work with local communities.

There are options to tailor make a 4 or 8 week adventure including:
  1. Living and working alongside Buddhist monks, learning meditation in a Thai temple, trekking in the jungle and a beach week on the tropical island of Koh Samet
  2. Working with elephants in a Khmer village tribe
  3. Assisting with community development projects in a local Thai village

The 4-week Thailand Adventure programme is 899 pounds. We can guarantee your own private room for a single supplement of 300 pounds.

Please contact Katie Singleton - South East Asia programme manager at
katie@gapyearforgrownups.co.uk or call on 01892 701881.

Case Study - You can do it too!

Jim Tunnicliffe, Oil Rig Medic, East Yorks, aged 48
Volunteer Project -
Desert Elephant Conservation, Namibia - click here

"Well what can I say? A real treasure of a place to go to!! I cannot recommend it enough to anyone. In fact I may not, and just keep it to myself! I have travelled around a lot of countries and can say that Namibia is in my top three. In fact it beats second place!

Jim Tunnicliffe - Namibia Desert Elephant Volunteer We were looked after and treated as friends from the moment we arrived. Everyone involved in this programme was friendly, helpful and always greeted you with a smile. The other volunteers were a mixed crowd (ages, backgrounds and nationalities), I can say that they were all wonderful people. We all shared the same goals - the welfare of the desert elephants and to understand these creatures in such a great country.

I was very fortunate whilst out on a mission to have located a herd of elephants and upon closer inspection later that day, we were rewarded with a baby elephant of only 1 or 2 weeks old. As a consequence I was given the honour of naming this baby, I called it both Frankie and Lizzie as at the time of the going press it was unsure as to its gender!

Namibia Elephant Volunteer Project This is a wonderful project as it looks after the needs of both elephants and the local communities. To be involved was a real privilege. I am now a little more informed about the plight of these animals and can understand why the project owners are so passionate about this project. In fact the passion has rubbed off a little on me too and I will be returning within a year I hope!"

We hope this newsletter has inspired you to start planning your own adventure! If any of our Special Offers interest you or you would like any more information about our exciting programmes, please contact us.

Kind regards,
Rachael Wood, Gap Year for Grown Ups Manager
