The Wildlife Sanctuary

The sanctuary is located in tropical north Queensland, Australia. It is an award winning eco-accredited park, providing visitors with the opportunity to view a diverse range of flora and fauna. The park has mixed immersion exhibits including rainforest, wetland and grassland areas. In each of these areas reside wildlife and flora that is endemic to the natural environment that it is replicating. It is also dedicated to conservation and uses donations and park entry fees to run a wildlife rescue programme and care centre with animals released back into the wild wherever possible.

The sanctuary is one of only two places in the world where you can view the rare Lumholtz’s Tree Kangaroo, having had success in their breeding programme in 2006. It is also home to the only breeding pair of black-necked storks in captivity in the world.
