Australia Sailing Courses
The gorgeous Whitsunday Islands, just off the Australian East Coast between Cairns and Brisbane.
The Whitsundays Named by Captain Cook upon their discovery in 1770, the Whitsunday Islands are made up of 74 continental islands just off the coast of Queensland, Eastern Australia. Thanks to their setting amongst the Great Barrier Reef in the warm waters of the Coral Sea, the snorkelling and diving here is unsurpassed. Only 8 of the islands are inhabited, but pretty much all of them boast gorgeous silica white sandy beaches, for a spot of sunbathing!
Australia Everyone knows Australia for its laid back, Barbie loving, beach going natives, and they do not disappoint! Thanks to the lovely weather and glorious beaches, outback, mountains and all the other natural features Oz has to offer, the Australians enjoy the big outdoors, so really, it is best to join them!
Climate The Whitsunday Islands enjoy a lovely tropical climate that gives them good weather pretty much all year round! With an average temperature of 23C at the height of winter and a lovely 30.5C at the peak of summer (Jan), the temperatures are pleasant all of the time. Even better is the fact that the waters of the Coral Sea, in which you will be sailing, remain a very pleasant 25C all year round. You’ll get those typical tropical rains in the summer (Jan to March) but they won’t really interrupt your sunbathing time.
Getting There You will need to arrive into Airlie Beach for the day prior to the start date of your programme. There are brilliant transport links along the East Coast, so hop on a bus from Brisbane, Mackay, Townsville or Cairns to go straight to Airlie Beach!
