What about flights? Flights are not included in the price of this programme. The Work Down Under programme comes with the option of taking a group flight so you can get to know the other people on the programme during the flight – before you even set foot on Aussie soil!
We can help with booking flights and can put you in touch with our flight provider who will sort everything out for you. Flights to Australia are valid for 12 months and you can get an open dated return flight so you can change the date of your return to the UK if you want to.
How long do I have to work for? You can work for as long as you want to. One thing to bear in mind though is that you cannot stay in a job any longer than six months, other than that there aren’t really any restrictions time-wise – you can choose when you work and when you travel and for however long you want!
What kind of jobs can I get? Due to visa restrictions, you can only get ‘casual’ work in Australia, but this still leaves you with a good number of options!
The main purpose of your visit should really be just to travel; the visa allows you to make money as you go so that you are able to stay away for up to 12 months.
Generally the jobs that you are able to apply for don’t need any specific qualifications, but if you are after something in a particular field it might help to have some. But most people who head over to Aussie on a programme like this one tend to go for jobs that aren’t too taxing, just something to earn a few dollars to keep them going and seeing all the beautiful sights Australia has to offer.
How much spending money will I need? This one is quite difficult to answer as it depends on what your plans are in Oz – how much time you plan to spend working, how much travelling you want to do, what you want to see and so on. This also depends on the type of accommodation you plan on staying in as well!
You are required to have at least £2000 of savings on your arrival in Aus by the working holiday visa- certainly a good start. Here are a few guideline average prices:
Hostels: £12/night Food: £5/day (if you are shopping in local supermarkets and cooking yourself) Beer: £2 for a pint Wine: £5 for a bottle Meal: £8/head
Activities vary in prices – one off adventure sports such as bungee jumping and skydiving generally cost upwards of £150.
