Your Typical Itinerary - Adelaide to Perth
Day 1
Your adventure begins heading out north of Adelaide. Weather permitting, you will go on a walk through the bush to explore the southern Flinders Ranges. There will be time to stop off on the way to see the sights in typical rural cities and towns. At the end of the first day’s journey you will either stay in a bush camp setting or, during winter months, on an Aussie farm retreat.
Day 2
Today you will board the MV Investigator for a 4-5 hour cruise (at own cost – approx $120). Extremely relaxing, you will get to see and swim with dolphins and Australian sea lions. Providing there is time, the group will head back to Coodlie Park Farm Retreat to witness a magnificent sunset on a secluded beach. Your hosts Hassie, Jo & family will take you on a magical nocturnal spotlighting tour in search of kangaroos, wombats and emus.
Day 3
Heading west along the South Australian Coast, on the Eyre highway, there will be a brief stop at Ceduna, and then onwards to ‘Cactus Beach’. This is one of Australia’s top surfing beaches. Here you can check out the surf and stretch out in the warm sun, relaxing to the rhythmic sound of the waves. The afternoon will be spent around Fowlers Bay - one of the earliest settlements on the south coast, it nestles beside some impressive sand dunes. Extreme sand boarding will give the afternoon an extraordinary finish!
Day 4
Leaving Fowlers Bay behind to drive across the dingo fence (the longest fence in the world), you will travel through Yalata Aboriginal Lands and onto the Nullarbor Plain. Between June and October the Southern Right Whales migrate to the Head of the Bight. From the scenic lookout points you can see almost 100 of these amazing sea mammals. Even if you come outside of the whale season you will not be disappointed as the lookout points still show the majestic coastline and the spectacular cliffs to their full potential. We will stop at the infamous wombat / camel / kangaroo road sign, and go and see the old telegraph town buried by sand dunes; Eucla.
Day 5
Today is spent travelling through some real outback country that will give you a sense of the vast, unspoilt and totally wild nature of Australia.
Day 6
We arrive in Esperence and back in civilisation to restock supplies and look around this beautiful seaside port. We set up camp for the next two nights only metres away from a picture postcard beach in the cape le Grand National Park and the sandy beaches with crystal clear water. Late afternoon will show you this bay to it’s full potential with a hike up ‘Frenchman Peak’. The stunning views from this granite formation include the islands of the Recherche Archipelago.
Day 7
Another full day to enjoy this beautiful spot and it’s totally up to you how you want to spend your day. There are some stunning coastal walks or you may prefer to swim, boogie board, snorkel, fish or just relax while lying on a pure white sandy beach.
Day 8
It’s an early start this morning and head for the Fitzgerald River National Park, where we will do one of the many walks on offer. The day is kept flexible as there are so many great spots to visit. The guide will decide the best route on the day. We arrive into our overnight destination at Porongurup and, if time permits, we sample some award winning wines.
Day 9
The landscape changes dramatically as we head into the heart of the southern Eucalypt forests of Western Australia. We visit Albany, Frenchmans Bay, the Gap Natural Bridge and Greens Pool. Take a walk on the tree top walk at the ‘Valley of the Giants’ – a unique structure that takes you up into the canopy of a very ancient and special eucalypts called Red Tingle trees. In the afternoon we climb one of the giant Karri trees that was once used as a fire lookout.
Day 10
Travel through Augusta, Margaret River and visit WA’s famous surf break on the last leg of this fantastic journey. Visit some unique cave formations and into Busselton. The last part of our nearly 4,000km journey gives you a chance to reflect on the experiences over the last 10 action packed days as we arrive into Perth, Western Australia’s capital city.
