Black Rhino and Elephant Conservation Zimbabwe
Working on this placement can make a worthwhile and serious impact while you yourself have a life changing and enriching experience.
Voluntary WorkThis project offers you an excellent opportunity to share Africa’s colourful cultural experiences and see up close its rich wildlife and scenery. You will live in close contact with not only the black rhino, but also buffalo, elephants and many other species.
You will have the privilege of seeing the incredible interaction of different species, hearing their sounds, recording vital details and information, and learning to appreciate the simple lifestyles of local communities. You will take part in:
- Anti-poaching patrols
- Monitor animal behaviour and interaction
- Help look after Black Rhinos
- Help look after and train elephants
- Go on an elephant back safari
- Snare sweeping
If you are a photography enthusiast, you will have the chance to get exceptional photographs of wildlife within a close proximity.
LocationThe Safari Ranch is based 105 kilometres, east of the vibrant city of Harare, Zimbabwe.
Accommodation and MealsVolunteers stay in a comfortable farmhouse, situated in the centre of the ranch. Often you will be privileged with the extraordinary sight of rhino, hippos & elephants browsing in the garden!
You will stay in shared bedrooms, either with two or four volunteers sharing. Volunteers share a bathroom and there is electricity and hot water available. You'll receive simple meals and basic house-keeping tasks will be done for you, but you are expected keep the house tidy and clean as well as maintaining the vegetable garden and main house garden too.
