Brazil Education Centre in Recife

Formed in 1976 to assist vulnerable members of the community, the project now helps over 150 children between the ages of 10 and 12.

Children are assisted in both their educational and personal development. The project aims to improve their quality of life, build their confidence and selfesteem and teach them social and ethical values for the future.

Volunteer Role

The activities that you will be involved with will vary on a daily basis, depending on the needs of the children, but you can expect to be involved in activities such as:

Coaching football.
Promoting educationally beneficial activities such as handcraft and arts projects.
Tutoring/ helping with homework.
Teaching English.

Location

The project is located in Recife, a city on the northeast coast of Brazil, north of Rio de Janeiro.

Accommodation and Meals

Accommodation in Recife is in a hostel, located 2 blocks from Boa Viagem beach. Rooms in the hostel contain 4 to 6 beds. Breakfast is included and is provided at the hostel, and all other meals are self- catered.

Arrival dates: First Monday of each month, from February onwards. Please note the February placement will commence after the Rio Carnival on the 10th and the December placement will end slightly earlier on the 20th December.
