Orientation
An onsite co-ordinator will collect you from the airport two days before the project begins. They will introduce you to the project leaders, take you to your accommodation and then allow you to settle in. On the next day, you will be taken to the language school for an orientation. This will include details about the project and information about the area you’re staying in.
Accommodation and Meals
Accommodation is with a host family. There are single and shared rooms (with other students) and you can expect the following facilities: access to communal areas, bath or shower, your laundry done once a week and use of the telephone (but check with your family before using it!). We ask that you show the family and their home respect at all times.
Free Time
When you’re not in lessons, there’s plenty to do in Salvador. The oldest city in Brazil, its colonial architecture is renowned and there are plenty of museums, too. If you want to go further afield, you can take yourself off to a national park (using your newly learned Portuguese!) or explore the beaches between the High City and the Low City.
Project Support
A team of co-ordinators will be on hand throughout your time on the project to help with any problems or questions you might have. Staff at the language school will also be happy to help.
In addition, you will be given a 24-hour emergency contact number that will allow you to contact one of our UK-based staff if you need to.
Project Age limit
Minimum 18 years. Maximum decided on potential participants’ health.
Project Requirements
Just enthusiasm and a willingness to participate fully in the activities and classes.
