Cambodia Caring for Children

Make a real difference to a beautiful but very poor country. The orphans of Phnom Penh are crying out for love and care, and the education that will give them a chance to make something of their lives. Volunteers on this project help give them this chance, by assisting with English, maths, art, language and sports lessons, as well as other activities.

Volunteer Role

Teaching will be the main focus of your role – helping them with their English and maths, for example, will give them a better chance of escaping poverty. You might also get involved with performing arts, language lessons, art classes and sports. In addition, you will act as a role model to the children, inspiring them to aim for higher education and helping them gain the skills that will make them employable.

As a volunteer your activities may include:

Arrange lesson plans
Teach English lessons
Teach drawing and painting
Help with health education
Take care of children during class
Cleaning the class rooms
Maintenance

Location

Khan Dang Kor, near Phnom Penh International Airport.

Accommodation & Meals

Your accommodation is in a twin room, in a guesthouse. All rooms have cable TV and a fan, and volunteers will have access to the laundry service. You can also request a safe box from the reception desk, if you wish. The guesthouse itself is close to a popular market and several restaurants.

Meals on this project are not included, with the exception of the welcome meal. However, the guesthouse has its own restaurant and there are several more close by.
