Voluntary Work
Educate and assist some of the country’s underprivileged children. A better education will open up more options to them, and help them to escape a life of poverty.
The project is situated at a refuse site. As a volunteer you will be teaching children whose parents work at the site. These children are not able to access mainstream education due to educational costs.
Your time at the centre will be divided between teaching English (if you have a TEFL qualification- please see programme requirements), drawing and painting and helping to draw up lesson plans. Any advice and support you can give the children on health education will be just as useful. You might also be asked to help with keeping the classroom tidy, and with project support work, such as general administration and maintenance.
If you have the relevant experience and the right qualifications, you can also get involved with teaching other vocational skills including; Dressmaking, IT*, Healthcare*, Carpentry, Gardening, Electrician/ Plumber, Painting, Decorating, Management and Hairdressing (*denotes qualification needed).
