Can I travel with my partner?

People often view ‘travelling' as something that you do when you are young and single, but nowadays people of all ages and from all backgrounds are going abroad on gap breaks to travel, volunteer, teach, discover and learn.
People often contact us enquiring as to whether they are able to travel with their partner, and our answer is always the same - ‘yes you can'. Travelling with your husband or wife, girlfriend or boyfriend, is a great way to take some time out of your usual hectic lives and enjoy a new experience together. Gap Year For Grown Ups offers you the exciting opportunity to do something totally new and to go on a real adventure together!
Can I volunteer on the same project as my partner?Volunteering does require a degree of flexibility and volunteer duties will depend upon the needs of the project, which can vary from week to week. However, all of the projects with which we work require the help and assistance of many volunteers, so it is almost always possible for you to work alongside your partner. It is best to chat to our travel advisors about the programmes that you are interested in so that they can let you know how closely you will be able to work with your partner.
You may find that you and your partner have different skills and interests, in whch case, you may choose to take part in slightly different volunteer activities during the day, but you will of course still be in the same accommodation and are able to spend your free time together. Our Kenya Camp Life programme is a good example of this where volunteers can get involved in the following activities; teaching; coaching sports; tree planting; painting; taking music classes; brick making; plastering, carpentry and gardening!
