Orientation
On day two you will have a comprehensive orientation meeting. This will cover all essential topics such as banks and money, transport, places to see, safety precautions and work ethics.
On day three you will also have a volunteer work orientation where you will be provided with further information about the volunteer work that you will be doing.
Accommodation and Meals
All accommodation is included for the duration of the programme. The type of accommodation will vary throughout the programme from home stays to hotel accommodation depending on which part of the project you are on.
While you are at the language school and taking part in your volunteer project you will be staying with a host family. These families are carefully selected to ensure clean, comfortable and safe lodging and provide you with a fantastic opportunity to practise your Spanish. The host family will provide you with a private bedroom, two meals a day (breakfast and dinner) and will take care of your laundry.
Meals throughout the programme will be provided as per the itinerary. Lunches and occasional meals will not always be provided but you will find that food in Costa Rica is very reasonably priced.
Free Time
During your free time in the afternoons you can take part in the cultural activities such as dance classes, additional conversation practice and cooking classes. You can also use the Internet for free at the language school.
Project Support
Throughout your stay you will have the support and guidance of a coordinator and their team. They will be able to help you with any questions you may have or advice you may need. In addition, you are also able to contact our UK staff 24 hours a day should you need to via our emergency contact number.
Project Age Limit
Minimum 18 years, maximum decided on potential participants’ health.
Project Requirements
A basic to intermediate knowledge of Spanish is required to take part in this programme.
