There are many different species of Langur in the world, however, Dusky Langur are ususally found in Thailand. They have a coat of dark grey to black/brown fur. Their eyes are ringed with birght white circles giving them an eyeglass wearing appearance. Often their calls can be heard in the jungle as they communicate with one another.
Their natural diet included large quantities of leaves which is a problem because they are not very nuturious and are sometimes toxic to the monkeys. The dusky langur are at risk and, although not yet endangered, it seems increasingly likely they will be in the future. The problems surrounding dusky monkeys survival is they are subject to poaching and loss of habitat through deforestation. In addition to this they are treated as pests in rubber-growing areas because they cause large scale damage to the rubber plantations.
