Programme Details
This six-week programme is divided into three main sections – Conservation, Cultural Experiences and Scuba Diving. The programme will finish with a few days chilling out on one of Fiji’s most admired beaches, so you will be having a holiday week too.
Scuba Diving Course
During the first two weeks you will have scuba diving training, which will allow you to join the conservation project and take part in the diving at other points during the programme. As part of your training you will need to complete two scuba courses – either the PADI Open Water Course and the Advanced Open Water Course; or the Rescue Diver Course and Advanced Open Water Course– the option you complete depends on if you have already taken your Open Water Course.
Cultural Experience
During the first two weeks (whilst you are doing your Scuba Courses), you will stay in a traditional Fijian village and gain knowledge of how these incredibly friendly people live their lives. Half of your time will be spent on the scuba courses, while the rest of your time spent with the local people in a total cultural immersion programme. This really is a memorable part of the programme and the time in which participants truly get to know the real Fiji.
Conservation Project
The conservation project aims to construct an MPA (Marine Protected Area) in Savusavu Bay, Vanua Levu Island. A marine protected area is a place where fish, corals and other marine eco-systems are able to thrive without risk of being harmed or altered by man. Help restore the eco system through the following volunteer activities:
