Your Typical Itinerary
Summary
Weeks 1&2: Nadi and Suva then Savusavu for dive course and village cultural stay
Weeks 3 - 5: Conservation project, Volunteering, Recreational diving and activities
Week 6: Coral Coast Beach break (3-4 days)
Days 1-2
Friday is the first day of your programme and you will arrive in Nadi and be transferred to your accommodation for the first two nights.
In the late afternoon/early evening on your day of arrival there will be an informal get together of program participants and then time to relax at your accommodation.
Saturday after breakfast there will be a brief orientation followed by a Nadi Town visit and an optional tour to the Mud Baths (a highlight of your visit to Nadi and available at a small charge of around $F20). Alternatively you can have a free afternoon to relax by the pool. Usually on Saturday nights there is a firewalking display for you to attend after dinner.
Days 3-4
On day 3 you will catch the bus to Suva where you will spend the night. The following evening you will catch the overnight ferry to Savusavu. Please note: You will soon get used to the laid back 'Fiji time'; often the ferry can be rescheduled and so if it is not available to catch when planned, you will catch the next one available.
Days 5-36
The overnight ferry arrives in to Savusavu early morning and this will be your home for the next 4 weeks. You will enjoy breakfast and be welcomed by the village before settling into your accommodation for the next week.
Your dive certification begins here at world class sites. You will also have an introduction to Marine Conservation and dives, Reef Check Training, data collection, and the Conservation project.
During this time, cultural experiences and other activities may be arranged.
Accommodation and meals: For the first week in Savusavu you will be staying in a local village close to the dive centre. This is a great experience but please be aware that living conditions are basic. All meals are provided but special dietary requirements may not be able to be catered for during this week.
The second week in Savusavu will be spent in a shared dorm room at a guest house in the town. Breakfast and dinner are provided here and lunch can be purchased in town for around F$5 each day.
During the third and fourth week you will stay in self-catering accommodation. Here you will be able to relax with the other volunteers, chill out on the beach minutes walk away and enjoy a good standard of amenities. Food will be provided and you will have use of a kitchen to prepare your 3 meals per day.
Day 37
For the last night on Savusavu you will stay in backpacker accommodation in the town where breakfast and dinner is included.
Day 38
Tonight you will catch the overnight ferry back to Suva. Breakfast and dinner is included.
Days 39-40
Bus transfer from Suva to a backpacker resort on the Coral Coast. Breakfast and afternoon tea included.
Day 41
Transfer to Nadi for final nights accommodation. Breakfast and dinner included.
Day 42
Departure from programme after breakfast which is included.
