State of Florida, America
Florida, known as “The Sunshine State”, is world famous for its theme parks, beaches and the amazing Everglades National Park.

The wildlife sanctuary is situated around 1.5 hours from the bustling cities of Tampa and Orlando (home of Walt Disney World). Furthermore the sanctuary is sited near to the Everglades National Park and the spectacular Bradenton and Sarasota Beaches.  With a number of sights to see on your time off you might want to consider an extra period of travel before or after your project to really appreciate the beauty that this gorgeous Southern state offers.

Weekend Travel
You will have your evenings free and a day off each week (although volunteers are required onsite seven days every week). Throughout your day off you can either stay at the rescue centre or opt to do some independent travel. Volunteers usually organise activities together for the evenings and days off such as trips to the nearest cities of Orlando, Sarasota or Tampa.

You will have lots of time to unwind and relax as the rehab centre is based in a rural area and there is no local bus service available. It is a good idea to take games and books for leisure time and in the evenings where you can hang out with the other volunteers.

Getting There
Arrange your flights to Orlando International Airport. Here you will be met by a programme representative and driven 1.5 hours to the project site.
