Galapagos The project switches between 2 locations - the main towns of the islands of Santa Cruz and Isabela, both of which are easily reached from the mainland by air and sea. Isabela is by far the largest of the archipelago; 4 times the size of Santa Cruz, which is the second largest.
The schools in the Galapagos are either public or privately owned, and all have at least basic facilities. In general, schools in rural areas are more basically equipped than those in urban areas.
Free time The evenings and weekends are your own. Some volunteers choose to take excursions to other parts of the country, while others stay in town to get to know the community more intimately. Our onsite coordinator can organise tours or excursions at a discount, or you can travel independently with other volunteers from the centre.
Getting There You will need to book your flights to arrive into Quito (Ecuador’s capital) International airport the day before your project is due to start.
