This hugely rewarding project is aimed at helping children and communities in Ghana’s urban regions, and surrounding rural communities, in their everyday struggle to survive

Voluntary Work

There are many volunteer options available on this programme, each of which give you the unique opportunity to immerse yourself in city or rural life right at the very heart of this country.

The range of projects includes:
  • Teaching
  • HIV/AIDS education and awareness
  • Healthcare work and medical clinics
  • Orphanage work and foster home programmes
  • Community development projects
  • Ecotourism projects
  • Construction projects
  • Working with children with special needs
  • Volunteering with street children
If you let us know which areas you are most interested in at the time of booking, we will try our best to find the most suitable project for you.

Project placements may depend on your previous experience in that field (although this is certainly not a requirement), and on what you hope to gain from your time in Ghana.

As part of this volunteer package volunteers will get a week long guided tour around Ghana. Please speak to one of the Africa travel advisers or read our further information pack for more details.

Location

There are various project locations in the large towns and cities in Ghana, for example: the capital city of Accra; Timale; and Kumasi. There are also projects in the surrounding rural suburbs of these cities.

Accommodation and Meals

As a volunteer, you have the unique chance to live with a local Ghanaian family in their own home close by the project site.

The standard of home stay accommodation can vary widely, and we ask volunteers to bear this in mind when they arrive at the property and before they depart. Each host family’s home has been thoroughly examined to ensure its suitability. You are guaranteed your own bedroom, or to be sharing with another volunteer.

Your family will provide all your meals for you.
