This hugely rewarding project is aimed at helping children and communities in Ghana’s urban regions, and surrounding rural communities, in their everyday struggle to survive.

Developing urban areas of Ghana, such as Accra and Kumasi.

Volunteer Role

There are many volunteer options available on this programme, each of which give you the unique opportunity to immerse yourself in city or rural life right at the very heart of this country.

The range of projects includes:

  • Teaching
  • HIV/AIDS education and awareness
  • Healthcare work and medical clinics
  • Orphanage work and foster home programmes
  • Community development projects
  • Ecotourism projects
  • Construction projects
  • Working with children with special needs
  • Volunteering with street children
Project placements may depend on your previous experience in that field (although this is certainly not a requirement), and on what you hope to gain from your time in Ghana. If you let us know which areas you are most interested in at the time of booking, we will try our best to find the most suitable project for you.

As part of this volunteer package volunteers will get a week long guided tour around Ghana.

What’s Included in the Programme

  • Project Fee: this entails financing that goes directly back into the project that you are involved with. This project fee facilitates funding for items such as building materials, equipment, supplies, foodstuffs, etc.
  • One week Tour of Ghana: Meals, Accommodation and Transport: Entry fees at your own cost
  • Personal accident policy for your stay period whilst in Ghana
  • All airport transfers from the nearest international airport upon your arrival into Ghana
  • Arrival orientation in Accra – inclusive of your meet and greet at the airport, accommodation and breakfast, lunch and supper each day during your orientation.
  • All accommodation during your stay with your local family
  • Visa extensions if applicable
  • Full support and assistance from your co-ordinator throughout your time on your placement
  • Breakfast and dinner each day. Please note: Lunch depends on your project

What’s Not Included in the Programme

  • Personal travel insurance for the duration of your placement, should cover repatriation
  • All flights
  • Airport pick up cost if arriving after 9.30pm and before 8am of £60
  • Return transfer from your project to the airport
  • Some lunches during your project
  • Additional drumming lessons – approx £13/17.50€
  • Extra fees for tour: Approx £25/34€ to spend
  • All items of a personal nature, such as curios, gifts, clothing (work and other)
  • E-mail/Internet and telephone calls, soft drinks, wines and spirits
  • Any changes to your project choice whilst in Ghana incurs a changing fee of £250/338€
  • Any excursions over and above your planned itinerary in Ghana
