Voluntary Work

The programme is mainly based in Accra the Capital, however, our coordinator can place you in one of 10 different regions all over Ghana. Each region and placement has a fairly different structure and can offer a different kind of experience, all depending on what you are hoping to achieve.

At the project, you will assist local coaches, arrange games, referee short matches and help to coach technique and tactics.

Most football coaching will take place in the afternoons and evenings, when the weather is cooler and the local children have finished school. Because of this, you have an opportunity to teach in local schools during the mornings. In most cases, this will represent 2-3 hours of teaching a day, Monday to Friday.

Volunteer activities include:

  • Assist coaches in football classes – help improve their coordination skills, prepare them for games and introduce them to new training drills
  • Help in the organization of training sessions and competitions
  • Referee short games for children both at the project and within the local community
  • Offer advice on football tactics
  • Teach new sports exercises and offer advice on health issues and requirements
  • Take part in football camps and local tournaments
  • Optional teaching within the academy or local schools
