China

Now is the best time to visit China before its unique heritage disappears amid the economic boom sweeping the country. China can already boast astounding contrasts in architecture and lifestyle with a mixture of ancient pagodas and modern skyscrapers in cities like Beijing and Shanghai.

Weather
The weather in the Wolong area is generally cooler when compared with nearby Chengdu. In April and May it is about 20°C, and in summer about 38°C. Wolong also experiences fairly high rainfall from June to September.

Free Time
The weekends will give you a great opportunity to explore the local area. Wolong is famed for it's reserve and beautiful landscape; volunteers are free to explore the surroundings by themselves. There are wonderful teahouses to relax in, or the staff club where volunteers can use the facilities such as table tennis or basketball.

There are local folkdance shows in the evening, which are mainly for the volunteers at the reserve and local hotel staff, which you will have to book in advance. Volunteers can also more than welcome to visit local families in the area to really experience Chinese culture.

Getting There

You should arrange your flights into Chengdu airport where you will be met by a representative and transferred to the project.
