Helping Hand in Cordoba Argentina
Your work as a volunteer will not only improve the day-to-day lives of more than 100 families in a deprived neighbourhood, but also provide them with the knowledge and means to enhance their own situation.
Voluntary Work The aim of this worthwhile programme is to provide services and protection to the people of Córdoba City who suffer from severe poverty and to foster a sense of dignity among those who don’t have the means to provide for their own family.
Not only does the programme aim to provide practical assistance to underprivileged families at the most basic human level, it also provides attendees with the skills and knowledge needed to improve their own situation through vocational classes and workshops. Some examples of the projects that you will be involved in include:
- A foodservice for people who have great difficulty in providing a daily meal for themselves or their family. More than 100 families benefit from regular meals at the centre.
- A day-care centre that looks after around 70 children while their parents are at work. The children are divided into morning and evening groups. All children receive a meal while at the day-care centre.
- A second hand clothes shop where local people can go to buy low priced clothes that have been generously donated. The donated clothes have been repaired and washed prior to their sale. Various workshops for children, adolescents and adults.
Location The project is located in a disadvantaged neighbourhood of Córdoba City called Amplicación Residencial América.
Accommodation and MealsVolunteers will live in student residence in Córdoba City; large houses with many bedrooms that you will share with one or two other volunteers. You'll need to budget and cook your own meals whilst there.
