India Animal Rescue
|
Volunteer Activities
Use your passion for animals to help protect them and improve their welfare – you’ll be involved in improving the appalling conditions that the animals live in on the city streets and raise awareness about the situation.
The main animals that you will be involved in rescuing will include; donkeys, dogs, cats, cows, elephants, monkeys and camels.
The main volunteer work/activities that you will be doing will be along the lines of:
- Outreach Missions: Driving the streets in an ambulance on the look out for sick and neglected animals. Animals are then taken back to the animal shelter to receive medical attention.
- The Hotline: Take calls to the Animal Rescue phone line from people who are concerned about an animal. You’ll also help with general administration.
- Adoption: This is a wide reaching adoption programme that involves helping communities to take care of stray animals in the area. These animals will also receive free medical care from the Campaign.
- Awareness Campaigns: Volunteers will hand out leaflets, advertise the hotline and encourage adoption amongst the people of Jaipur. The main campaign focuses are community centres and local schools, stressing how important looking after/ adopting stray animals is.
- Vaccination/ Sterilisation: Rescued animals are sterilised and vaccinated/treated for any harmful diseases they may be carrying. Volunteers can help with this side of the campaign.
Excursions and Sightseeing There are also a number of excursions included in the project price:
- The Taj Mahal: The most famous of India’s monuments, this visit includes a night in Agra (hotel), dinner and breakfast and a tour guide (English speaking).
- A safari by camel: with overnight desert camping! (This is only included if you are doing a minimum of 4 weeks on the project)
- Jaipur’s Amber Fort sightseeing: (This visit may include an elephant ride, but sometimes due to unforeseen circumstances this is not available. If this is the case, jeeps will provide alternative transport)
