Your Indian Cooking experience will not only involve learning how to cook delicious Indian cuisine, it will also teach you about India’s history, customs & traditions. You will have the opportunity to take part in Yoga, sari tying and henna workshops, go on a camel safari and visit the most famous of India’s historical monuments, the Taj Mahal.

Cooking Course Details

India is famous world wide for its distinct cuisine, which is an unmistakable part of the country’s culture and something that binds together aspects of history, religion and climate. You now have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the interesting culture of India by taking part in a programme that unveils the mysteries of Indian cooking and the traditions that shape it, while also discovering the food of today’s India.

Cultural Immersion
One of the best ways to learn more about India’s culture is through its food. As with many cultures, food is an important part of India’s history, customs and traditions. Indian cuisine is deliciously diverse and wide ranging due to the country’s numerous cultural, religious and ethnic influences. Therefore, your cooking programme will include more than just class instructions! You will also benefit from a superb variety of cultural hands-on activities including:

  • Cultural workshops: Yoga classes will be available to participants every day (excluding weekends). Saree Tying and Henna workshops will also ensure that you have an all round educational and cultural experience.
  • Time for cooking practice: At the end of each lesson you will get the chance to test out your new skills by preparing, serving, and eating your own Indian food creations!
  • Amber Fort trip and Elephant ride
  • A special dinner with a local Indian family
  • Experience the popular street kitchen in urban areas
  • Countryside Excursion (3 week participants only) to experience its distinct cuisine
  • Visit to the Taj Mahal: At the start of the programme you will visit the Taj Mahal, the most famous of India’s historical monuments. For this trip, all meals, overnight accommodation and an English-speaking guide will be provided.
  • Camel Safari: A camel safari will mean you experience the traditional Rajasthani culture on a bumpy ride across the vast Rajasthani desert. All meals, overnight accommodation and an English speaking guide is provided.
Your Cooking Classes
Your hands-on and instructional cooking classes will be the main highlight of your experience, with your classes including subjects related to:
  • The history and origins of Indian food
  • Different varieties of Indian cooking
  • Ingredients and spices used in Indian cooking
  • Food preparation
  • Indian serving traditions
  • ...and of course, eating your delicious Indian food!

Your cooking classes will run as per the itinerary for three hours in the morning from 10am to 1pm. The group will then have lunch and the afternoon will be available for you to either take part in one of the organised activities or to explore by yourself the many charms and bazaars of Jaipur.

Each day you will learn how to make 2-3 dishes, depending on the complexity of the preparation. These dishes will be focused on:

  • Various types of North and South Indian curries
  • Indian breads
  • Rice preparations such as Biryani, Pulao
  • South Indian food

Programme Cost Includes

  • Met at New Delhi airport and transfer to Delhi hotel for one night’s accommodation. Return transfer to the airport before 10am on days 15 and 22 of the project
  • Project related transfers
  • Meal with local English speaking family in Jaipur.
  • Sightseeing of Amber fort in Jaipur including Elephant ride. (Please note: every effort will be made to provide the elephant ride, however it cannot be guaranteed. If the elephant ride cannot be supplied alternative transfers to the Amber fort will be provided in jeeps)
  • Accommodation on a twin share basis
  • All meals while on the programme according to itinerary
  • Henna and saree tying workshops.
  • Yoga sessions everyday (excluding weekends).
  • English speaking assistances
  • Camel safari with overnight camping in the desert on full board basis. (For 3 & 2 week participants).
  • Visit to Taj Mahal including one night stay at hotel in Agra, dinner and breakfast and local English speaking guide.
  • A day excursion to the Indian Countryside to experience the everyday life of rural India. (3 week participants only).
