Up until now I have always travelled in organised groups, I retired from teaching last year and was looking to do something different but I was concerned about what age was a ‘grown up' classed as?
I am 61 years old, fit and healthy, but was I considered to be too ‘over the hill' for something like this?
The good news… apparently not! |
This project aims to fight poverty and HIV/AIDS.
I got to visit far flung rural communities with a mobile clinic and got to use my teaching skills in local schools. My experiences can only be described as humbling.
Everywhere I went I was greeted with warmth, enthusiasm and enormous respect, I was given gifts
and fed by people who had very little themselves.

The project touched my heart and after four weeks I vowed that I wanted to do more to help. I now use my photos to fundraise and feel that in some way I have helped raise awareness of the plight of all those that I met.
I went for adventure and came home with a commitment. |
