This was my second visit on the same programme and it was fantastic seeing all the children and their families again. I received such a welcome. The variety of this programme is really great - doing volunteer work - all sorts - beach days, going on safari, elephant santuary day etc.
Orla Cunningham, 6th Jul - 27th Jul 2009Living and working with the locals.... from the camp to the school, was an experience I will never forget, of course everyday my favourite time was porridge time, when we helped out feeding the children. A very special memory I have is the African night we had in camp as it coincided with my birthday, definitely one I not forget, even had a birthday cake. I also loved our visits in camp from the local elephants crikey there are so many highlights, just put it this way, I cried on leaving camp and when I came home you couldnt shut me up about it....now all my friends want to go also....

As a group we bought uniforms for 30 kids and to see their faces when they received them made the trip for me - knowing that something so small made an impact on them.

It was the most amazing three week trip and in my last week I felt so sad as I didn't want to leave….I am still in touch with lots of the people I met in the community and the builders we worked with on the project and all of the other volunteers.
My favourite story would have to be when we were getting ready to distribute the porridge one day, all of the little ones sat below us were touching our legs and it wasn't until my friend Jen told me to look at them I noticed that they were touching our legs and then looking at their hands to see if the colour came off - how sweet and innocent!

Don't delay, book today! If you want to experience real African life on the ground, meet and live with local people, see wildlife close-up, live in an authentic jungle location, work hard for a community in need and most of all light up the eyes of children who will benefit from the simplest actions and things you can offer this is the programme from you. Without doubt you will get back far more than you are able to put in because the whole experience is amazing.

The project is part of a 3-year sustainable development programme in partnership with local communities in Kenya. Volunteers play a vital role, they are not looking for skilled or experienced people to help but those with a passion to ‘give something back'
If you have been on this travel project, we'd love to hear from you!
