Kenya
Kenya lies astride the equator on the eastern coast of Africa. Kenya is bordered in the north by Sudan and Ethiopia, in the east by Somalia, on the southeast by the Indian Ocean, on the southwest by Tanzania and to the west by Lake Victoria and Uganda. With its vast plains teeming with abundant wildlife, the annual migration of a million wildebeest and zebras across the Maasai Mara, the snow capped peak of Mount Kenya and the spectacular palm fringed beaches of the Indian Ocean, Kenya’s natural environment and cultural heritage is unrivalled in Africa.
Time
Kenya is three hours ahead of GMT.
Getting There
You will need to arrange your flights to arrive at Mombasa Airport, normally via Nairobi in Kenya. Here you will be met by our project representatives and taken to your accommodation.
Please Note: Anyone arriving outside of office hours (9am – 7pm) will need to stay at a comfortable hotel at the cost of £50 per person.
Climate
The climate of Kenya is diverse. The lowlands are generally hot and dry, whereas the highlands are more temperate with four seasons. The coastal areas are tropical but the heat is abated by monsoon winds.
Please take note of the winter months and pack accordingly to these temperatures, which could drop to below zero at times.
