Kenya is one of Africa’s poorest countries and the population has been devastated by HIV/AIDS, poverty and unemployment. Volunteers have countless options to make a contribution to those affected.

Reviews

Sarah Conley, 11th- 25th January 2010

What were the highlights of your trip?
Getting to meet all the kenyan people, being able to help and assist them even on things very small and simple. and prepairing a routine for the orphans.

Do you have 3 top tips for future travellers?
1) be prepaired to have your hair pulled so have it tied back ha ha 2) bring lots of book or ipod to listen to 3) bring general items for the orphans such as toothbrush / toothpaste ect as sweets are not as useful.

A non forgetable trip! great people, had a laugh, learnt new words in their language and felt like id done so much good! Proud of myself.
Carol Blair, 5th - 19th October 2009

I had a really good time, everything went to plan including the 2 safaris organised by yourselves. The volunteer projects met my expectations and I feel I got out of it what I was looking for. The social side of the project made it easier to help the local people by doing more practical things like painting the school to give a better environment for the children to learn in. Obviously the language barrier was always going to be a problem which cannot be overcome in such a short period of time. But I really enjoyed the experience and met some lovely people, glad I did it. Thank you.

What were the highlights of your trip?

Avoiding the UK Jan weather! doing the Medical placement and really feeling appreciated, it was both humbling and rewarding and great to meet other like minded volunteers, although alot younger than me I was able to use my 'maturity' at times to smooth troubled waters! Working together as a group in both the Makeu School and the feeding programme , was more effective too.

Do you have 3 top tips for future travellers?

Be open minded and flexible, pass on your skills and also learn from your experience too. Age is not a barrier!

Give us up to 10 words that sum up your experience: for example - "Great experience, made new friends, totally unforgettable!"

Age is no barrier! a wonderful experience made easier by the team Has fulfilled a long term ambition and opened new horizons and new friends.

If you have been on this travel project, we'd love to hear from you!
