Voluntary Work
Throughout the programme, you will be able to take part in the following type of programme activities:

Assisting coaches and running your own sports classes concentrating on things such as skill development, coordination, game preparation and training drills
- Helping to organise training sessions and competitions
- Refereeing short games for the children involved in the project and in the local community
- Advising and tactical lessons
- Teaching new sports exercises and giving advice on health issues
- Morning teaching
The most popular sports include rugby cricket and football for the boys and badminton, volleyball and netball for the girls. However, this does not mean that you are not able to coach any other sports that you are interested in as the students are always really keen on learning new sports, so you can be the one to introduce them!
Your mornings will be taken up teaching classes in your school, these will be mainly English and IT lessons. If you have teaching experience, you can do even more than this if you like and get involved in teaching a larger number of areas.
What’s Included in the Programme Price
- Project Fee: This entails financing that goes directly back into the project that you are involved with, to pay for vital materials such as clothes, food and shelters.
- All airport transfers upon your arrival into Kisumu Airport
- Arrival orientation in Kisumu
- All accommodation during your stay
- All meals prepared for by the house cook
- All vehicle transfers during your work placement
- Support and assistance from your coordinator throughout your time on your placement
What’s Not Included in the Programme Price
- Personal travel insurance for the duration of your placement, which should include cover for repatriation
- All flights
- All items of a personal nature, such as curios, gifts, clothing (work and other)
- E-mail/Internet and telephone calls
- Soft drinks, wines and spirits
- Visa for entry into Kenya
- Any excursions
