LAUNCHES NEW PROGRAMMES AT ETHICAL EXPO

Gap Year for Grown Ups launches new programmes at Ethical Expo 08

Gap Year for Grown Ups (GYFGU), a division of the UK's leading gap travel organiser is launching two new programmes at Ethical Expo 08.

The Construction Programme in Nepal, giving volunteers the opportunity to assist in the construction of a Child Day Care Centre. Living with a host family in Chitwan, volunteers can stay for 2, 4, 6 or 8 weeks. Experience in building work is useful but not necessary whereas enthusiasm and a positive attitude are!

Or how about The Israel Archaeology Programme? Located in the Mount Scopus area of Jerusalem this is your chance to discover something amazing that is priceless and could change our understanding of history. Volunteers will stay in apartments on the Hebrew University Campus, Jerusalem giving you a great opportunity to meet volunteers from all over the world.

In line with our operations policy, all programmes match our strict criteria of being sustainable and meaningful for the communities, or natural heritage areas in which they are based, as well as rewarding and value for money for the participant. Whilst GYFGU is not a charity or fundraising organisation, these programmes are designed to add value through the most important currency of all - people. Without the volunteers' time, energy, enthusiasm or skills none of these programmes would succeed.

Lauren Mackay, brand manager, Gap Year for Grown Ups explains, “We are looking forward to the launch event of Ethical Expo 08. Endorsed by The FairTrade Foundation, Oxfam and Christian Aid, this event showcases the responsible choices we can make in all areas of our lives - not only in travel but also in our shopping habits and lifestyle."

We would like to ask visitors to Ethical Expo to support our ‘Pencils for primary schools campaign' - an opportunity to send all your unwanted pens and pencils to schools assisted by our programmes in Asia, Africa and South America. If you can't make it to the event or want to make it a group collection effort then email us at info@gapyearforgrownups.co.uk and we'll send you a flat-pack box with a poster and you can collect a box load!

Mackay adds, “Visitors to the stand can also enter into a prize draw to win a £50 GYFGU voucher*, 2 x £20 GYFGU vouchers* or one of 5 x Shewee's - a portable device for women for when you just have to go!

For more information on any of our programmes please visit www.gapyearforgrownups.co.uk or telephone 01892 516164

*The voucher entitles the bearer to £50 or £20 off any GYFGU, Real Gap or Real Sport Experience products and has no cash alternative. The voucher is valid for 12 months from the date of issue. No change can be given. The voucher cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer.
