Malaria is widespread in many tropical and subtropical countries. It is recommended on travelling to such countries that you protect yourself in a series of ways. The first is bite avoidance, which includes wearing long sleeves and trousers in the morning and evening, using repellents and sleeping under a mosquito net at night. There are also antimalarial drugs available in all Chemist and doctors to prevent and treat the disease. In addition to this, if you contract malaria prompt treatment is absolutely key.
In Kenya, Malaria is most prevalent around the coast on Lake Victoria and the Indian Ocean. This includes the towns and cities of Kisumu, Diani, Mombasa and Malindi.
