Living with Shaolin Masters, students of all abilities are welcomed to go and learn a variety of different forms of Chinese Kung Fu.

The peacefulness of the National Park adjoining it helps students to have the ideal state of mind in developing an accurate understanding of Chinese Kung Fu.

Kung Fu has been in existence for over thousands of years, with many forms developing from regional styles (Southern and Northern) and differing principles such as external and internal. Some people estimate that there are over 230 forms of punching/boxing alone!

The Programme

At the academy you can indicate the form of Kung Fu you wish to learn or advance your existing skills in. The amount you learn will depend on your current level of ability and how long you want to attend the academy for. Below is a typical training schedule for the 1-3 months programme (longer durations avaliable)
  • History and theory of Shaolin Kung Fu with flexibility training
  • Introduction to Qi Gong, Sanda (kickboxing) Tai Chi, and 1 to 6 of the Shaolin fist forms
  • Basic kicking and punching
  • Low-level weapons training such as staff, whip or sword
  • Mandarin sessions

Academy students have the possibility of learning hard Qi Gong (the conditioning of the body for fighting).  Students who study for one to three months should be able to cut a brick in two by just using their bare hands!

Location

Project is based in Fujian Province, South East China

Accommodation and Meals

All accommodation is based at the academy. Students have their own private room, with shared facilities such as Western-style toilets bathrooms, and showers. On occasion, students may have to share their room with another student.

All meals are prepared by the academy cooks. Meals are fairly basic, made in local styles and with local produce.
