China Martial Arts Academy

Trip code: CHMA
Train in Martial Arts in China

Living with Shaolin Masters, students of all abilities are welcomed to go and learn a variety of different forms of Chinese Kung Fu. The peacefulness of the National Park adjoining it helps students to have the ideal state of mind in developing an accurate understanding of Chinese Kung Fu.

Programme Orientation

Once you have been met and picked up from the airport, you will be taken to your accommodation to settle in. On your day, your coordinators will guide you through the academy and help to answer any questions you may have in your orientation. Your orientation will cover:

  • Local culture – social norms, traditions and culture
  • Expected behaviour – how to respect the Masters, the academy staff and each other
  • Safety – areas and places to avoid, what to do in an emergency
  • Locations of important amenities – banks, hospitals, embassies
  • Free time – what there is to do in the local area

Accommodation and Meals

All accommodation is at the academy, with most rooms boasting stunning scenic views of the surrounding area. The rooms are comfortable, with 1-2 single beds and a simple wardrobe for clothes and personal possessions. Each student will also have a bedside table. Facilities such as showers, bathrooms and Western-style toilets are shared. Rooms typically have 2 occupants.

All meals are taken at the academy and are prepared by the academy cooks. Meals are made in local styles and with local produce; however, some Western dishes are served occasionally. Common ingredients include rice, vegetables and chicken. Various different diets can be catered for with prior notice. If you have any special requirements, contact a Travel Adviser for details.

Free Time

Martial Arts training can be physically demanding, so you’ll have plenty of free time to relax in between classes and weekends free to make the most of your environment. Most attractions are within a 40-minute drive of the academy. The local coordinator can help to organise trips:

  • The Big Golden Lake
  • The Zhaixia Canyons
  • Taining Ancient City
  • Cat Mountain
  • Taining Geological Museum
  • Bamboo forest & many more

Programme Support

During your programme, you will have the support and guidance of our local coordinator. They will provide you with competent field support and assistance, and help you with any questions or support you may need during your stay. In addition, we will provide you with a 24 hour emergency contact number before you depart, so that you can contact one of our UK staff at any time should you need to.

Skills Requirement

No experience is required; however, participants need to ensure that they are fit and able to join a programme of this nature.
