Voluntary Work

The Namibia voluntary work is based around these elephants, ensuring their survival alongside local Namibian landowners who compete for natural land resources. They come into conflict over water supplies and grazing land.

The work that you will be doing at the project focuses on 2 main areas to ensure that the future of these elephants are protected:

Working with landowners
Educating farmers on how to manage conflicts with elephants. Help them build protection around their vital resources such as water points as well as creating extra ones for the elephants so as not to disturb the farmers.

Monitoring of elephant herds
Tracking and monitoring the herds is another important function performed by the project, enabling us to compile identikits of local herds and bulls and to map their movement patterns. Through this knowledge we are able to assist the Ministry of Environment and Tourism with solving problems the elephants create. Our volunteer project is real, pioneering conservation work, consisting of building defensive measures around vulnerable structures as well as joining our members out on patrol, helping monitor the elephants.
