Big cat conservation Namibia

Help to care for the welfare of animals that have been orphaned or injured. The centre aims to operate as a soft release area for animals that have been rehabilitated successfully from the Noah’s Ark project, 300 kilometres East of Windhoek.

Your Typical Itinerary

Each day on the project, you will experience a structured schedule. You will generally work in three groups, rotating your activities daily. However, please note that this is intended as a guideline only and may vary to meet the needs of the animals and programme. Your itinerary may be as follows:

07:00: Breakfast - help yourself to cereals, tea and toast
08:00: Morning meeting with the volunteer co-ordinator to plan the day ahead
08:15:Morning activity; one of: enclosure patrol, food preparation, cleaning enclosures and feeding of the animals, assisting with the school or walking or grooming the caracals
10:15: Tea break
10:30: Morning activity 2; one of: border patrol, baby baboon walk, Meerkat walk, sitting with Lucky the Cheetah or large carnivore feeding and cheetah time (if possible)
13:00: Lunch and free time
15:30: Afternoon activity 2; either farm work or a big baboon walk
15:00: Afternoon activity (varies)
17:30: Dinner and free time
19:00:Baboon baby sitting duties

Volunteers should be prepared for the daily schedule to change at short notice to meet the needs of the project.
