State of Wyoming The programme is situated on the Absaroka Front, which is a prong of the rocky Mountains. Absaroka Front is located between Thermopolis and Cody, in Grass Creek, WY. You will have 66,000 acres of diverse countryside at your disposal – from expansive mountain views to sage brush flats.
Very few travellers today reach this stunning 15-mile wide, by 25-mile long country compared to 70 years ago. Therefore the land has retained its wild, untouched appeal.
Weekend Travel You may of course opt out of any of the activities that are on offer to you if you would just prefer to relax and enjoy your surroundings. As the project is open 7 days a week, you may wish to take a half or full daybreak during which time you can participate in the activities available. Just let the on-site staff know if you would like to take some time off.
It is really easy to hire a car and it is worth doing so if only to visit the infamous Yellowstone National Park where a large range of wildlife roams including buffalo, moose, elk, deer, bears, and other species.
In Cody itself you can visit the Buffalo Bill Historical Museum, the Nite Rodeo, and many shops and galleries. The magnificent Grand Tetons National Park lies just south of Yellowstone where you also have the chance to visit the town of Jackson Hole. The park has some breathtaking views for you to enjoy. If you fancy really pampering yourself then why not take a trip to the world’s largest Hot Springs, or check out the Dinosaur Centre in Thermopolis.
Visa You will only need a tourist visa to volunteer at the ranch, and this will be granted to you for 90 days when you enter the country.
Getting There You should organise your international flight to Cody Airport in Wyoming. One of the project representatives will meet you at the airport and transfer you to the project site, which is approximately one hour away.
