Santiago Orphanage Project in Chile
As a volunteer on this orphanage project, you'll be involved in the day-to-day running of the orphanage and caring of the young children.
The children that you will be caring for are between the ages of zero and four! There are two shelters in Santiago and you will be assigned to one of these. The shelter is there to protect the children until they can be placed with a suitable family. Many have been abandoned, given up for adoption, or abused.
Voluntary WorkYour primary duty will be to provide these children with the love and care they have so far been refused. This simple offering will help give these neglected babies and toddlers a much better start in life. You will need to help wake, feed, and bath the children as well as assist in the general maintenance of the centre – cleaning, changing beds, and so on.
Help at the orphanages is welcomed with open arms. With staff shortages and current staff desperately overworked, an extra pair of hands is always needed. Volunteers, above all else, must be caring, helpful, giving, and flexible to give children and staff the best possible help. You should expect to volunteer for a minimum of 10 hours a week, but of course, if you can put in additional hours, staff will more than appreciate it.
