South Africa Orphans and HIV AIDS Education
The Greater St. Lucia Wetland Park, the first natural UNESCO World Heritage Site in South Africa, is the location of the charismatic town of St. Lucia.
The Wetland Park encompasses an area where 5 different eco-systems join, creating half a million acres of immense ecological diversity. Be prepared to spot loads of amazing wildlife, as well as experiencing the lively and colourful local Zulu tribe.
You could be involved in local community support through additional projects, which could include building and refurbishment of schools.
Voluntary WorkIn this fantastically impressive setting, you have the opportunity help take care of, educate and interact with orphans who have been affected by the AIDS pandemic, losing most of their family. This is why the other part of the project, educating the local community about HIV is also extremely important.
Project Highlights
- Cultural immersion
- Care for and educate children directly affected by HIV
- Community education about the HIV/AIDS virus
- Assist a home care project- helping out ill people in their homes
- Classroom construction for local schools
On this programme you could work with orphans teaching simple English and offering the children much needed support and affection, help a locally run UN approved organisation educate local communities on AIDS and HIV awareness to dispel the myths that currently surround it, help build classrooms and improve community facilities or give much needed medical support to those already suffering with the AIDS virus.
