Voluntary Work

Not all of the volunteer work is particularly glamorous. The day starts with a general cleanup and maintenance of enclosures. The volunteers will also have to assist with medicating the animals and checking through faeces for parasites and abnormalities. Other activities include:

  • The collection and recording of relevant data for animals being released
  • Reptile, amphibian and arachnid research in the bush
  • Habitat location for future releases

Volunteers will have to wear good walking shoes and be expected to climb trees and rocky outcrops. Finding new release sites involves swimming in streams, trekking through the bush and exploring caves - a mini-adventure every day. Each group will be adding a bit of valuable information towards the project.

The project is in the process of building new specialized enclosures that the volunteers will help construct and maintain which will involve some manual labour.

Volunteers can also:

  • Attend a Ranger Course
  • Learn safe snake handling methods
  • Help with reptile demonstrations
