Voluntary Work
At this South Africa voluntary work project, you play a vital role in our conservation team, taking part in practical projects and undertaking every aspect of conservation required. The project also proactively works with African Communities, through an environmental education programme at local schools.
Aspects of this voluntary project include:
- Learn bush conservation and field skills
- Due to the proximity of the beach, you will spend time on white sand beaches and learn about coastal systems and ecology
- Teaching children environmental education
- Game counting and drives into the bush - there you identify different species and behaviour
- Wildlife research
- General maintenance of the reserve

What’s Included in the Programme
- Project Fee: this entails financing that goes directly back into the project that you are involved with. This project fee facilitates funding for items such as building materials, equipment, supplies, foodstuffs, etc
- Airport transfers both to and from East London Airport
- Arrival orientation in South Africa
- Excursions listed in your orientation
- Accommodation and meals during your orientation and placement
- Full support and assistance from your co-ordinator throughout your time on your placement
What’s Not Included in the Programme
- Personal travel insurance for the duration of your placement, which should include cover for repatriation
- All flights
- Private tents, if requested
- All items of a personal nature, such as curios, gifts, clothing (work and other)
- E-mail/Internet and telephone calls
- Soft drinks, wines and spirits
- Any excursions over and above your planned itinerary
