Your enthusiasm and energy will be used to enlighten and improve the lives of these greatly disadvantaged children who are in need of a safe place to live. You will be helping improve the children’s future prospects of living by helping to develop suitable housing. Trade skills are useful, however you do not need any previous experience to take part and enjoy this programme.



Your Typical Itinerary

There is no structured set itinerary for the project but the following is a general guide:

Day 1-2Arrival and orientation
Weekdays8am to 2pm at the project
Afternoons may be spent on going back to the building site to do more building or relaxing at the lode or engaging in some local activity.
WeekendsFree time

A day in the life of a volunteer

  • 8.00am catch the local bus to your project.
  • Once you arrive at your project site organise all your working tools and start working, eg making bricks, foundations, plastering etc.
  • 11.00am to 11.20am have a break
  • 11.20am continue with working until lunch time.
  • 1.00pm have lunch for 30 minutes then continue working until 2.00pm
  • If you like you can go back to the lodge for lunch and go back to work in the afternoon but it’s ideal to bring lunch with you if the project site is far.
