Voluntary Work
The children will be aged between two and sixteen years and have been selected, as they are believed to be the most vulnerable in the local communities. The majority of these children have lost their parents and are being brought up by foster carers or extended families. All these kids and all the centres/organisations and the volunteers who run them are in serious need of your help, time and effort.
On this project you will be involved in the following types of activities:
- Caring for and supporting the children
- Organising fun activities
- A bit of teaching basic English, Maths and life skills
- Outreach initiatives and needs – identification of their needs
- Feeding programmes – develop gardens and feed the children
- Basic shelter construction
- Working on water systems
- Organising fundraising activities
What’s Included in the Programme
- All accommodation for the duration of the programme
- All meals for the duration of the programme

- Orientation on arrival
- Orphan Care project work
- 24-hour support number and contact
What’s Not Included in the Programme
- Personal travel insurance for the duration of your placement, which should include cover for repatriation
- All flights
- Transport to and from the projects each day
- All items of a personal nature, such as curios, gifts, clothing (work and other)
- E-mail/Internet and telephone calls
- Soft drinks, wines and spirits
- Any excursions over and above your planned itinerary
