Volunteer in Tanzania within the Community

A varied and flexible volunteer programme including teaching children in the mornings and a number of afternoon activities, such as coaching sports teams, organising music workshops or teaching adults English. Voluntary Work

This project caters for volunteers of all interests and backgrounds. Whether you can bring relevant personal skills and experience, or simply your time and enthusiasm to the project, your input will go a long way to improving the prospects of the local people.

Morning Projects
Your project activity will begin with a school placement in the mornings. Many schools in the area need your help as teachers and teaching assistants and you may choose from day cares and nurseries right up to secondary school. The primary area of need is in English and maths lessons, however, you may also be able to get involved with sports, science, games and other subjects of your choice.

Afternoon Projects
In the afternoons you can choose from a variety of projects. All project areas are extremely rewarding and allow you to become more closely involved in the local communities. They include:

  • HIV Awareness Programme
  • Adult English Classes
  • Sports Coaching
  • Music Education Projects
  • Handicraft Group Projects
  • Computer Teaching Initiatives
  • Construction
  • Sanitation Project

What’s included in the Programme

  • A donation to local community projects in Tanzania
  • Your airport transfer on arrival
  • Class C permit visa
  • Project orientation upon arrival - two days
  • Accommodation during your programme
  • Full time assistance and support from your in-country co-ordinator
  • Breakfast & dinner, as described
  • 24-hour support and emergency contact number

What’s not included in the Programme

  • All flights
  • Your personal travel insurance for duration of the placement - this should cover for repatriation
  • Any airport transfers if arriving outside of the usual project start dates (transfer costs are US$35 per person, one way)
  • Return airport transfer
  • Additional tourist visa for USD$50
  • Personal items - gifts, clothing, and so on
  • Any Internet use, e-mails, or phone calls
  • Lunches
  • All beverages
  • Additional excursions not included in your itinerary
  • Public transport to and from the project sites when necessary
