Voluntary Work

The centre, that sits on the borders of Phetchabrui’s beautiful jungle, is home to several gibbon groups that have been moved over from the Wildlife Rescue Centre (based on the same complex), so they can start their rehabilitation programme to get them back into the wild.

The gibbons are housed on islands, which the centre has specially adapted so that they can learn how to survive back in the wild - foraging for food and living up in the trees. The centre houses a number of different species of Thailand’s native wildlife, but the majority of the centre is dedicated to the gibbons, a native small ape that inhabits some parts of Thailand.

You will work in accordance to a daily schedule that will be varied depending on the duties that need doing and the number of volunteers about to share the work. You will be doing the following types of jobs:

  • Gibbon feeding and providing fresh drinking water
  • Cleaning cages and surrounding areas
  • Collecting gibbon food (leaves and figs)
  • Making gibbon enrichments
  • Helping to construct newer and larger enclosures
