Thailand Gibbon Rehabilitation Centre
The gibbons are housed on islands, which the centre has specially adapted so that they can learn how to survive back in the wild – foraging for food and living up in the trees. The centre houses a number of different species of Thailand’s native wildlife, but the majority of the centre is dedicated to the gibbons, a native small ape that inhabits some parts of Thailand.
The gibbon is endangered and the centre runs a specific rehabilitation programme for them, which aims to return as many on these beautiful creatures to the wild as possible.
The centre, that sits on the borders of Phetchabrui’s beautiful jungle, is home to several gibbon groups that have been moved over from the Wildlife Rescue Centre (based on the same complex), so they can start their rehabilitation programme to get them back into the wild.
