Volunteer India Goa Project
Experience the essence of India all at once! Our Goa project offers volunteers the opportunity to make a contribution to socially deprived areas whilst exploring the Indian mainland in a diverse range of activities.
Despite its reputation as a tourist haven, Goa needs volunteer assistance. There are many projects which have made a positive contribution to the local community as a result of volunteer assistance. With your help, this voluntary work in India can continue to benefit more people.
The Goa Volunteer Programme structure
- Day 1 - Arrival in Mumbai and overnight stay in a hotel
- Day 2 - Lonavla sightseeing and overnight stay
- Day 3-4 - Begin two day adventure programme
- Day 5-6 - Ashram: Yoga, meditation, massage and mud baths
- Day 7 - Depart for Goa and volunteer placement
You will be staying 2km from the beach in Colva, one of the most spectacular beaches in southern Goa.
Volunteers have a choice of placements4 week Goa project volunteer options
- Day care centre work with children
- Special education camps and bridge courses to children of immigrant and slum dwelling families
- Computer education to the children for a variety of population segments which may include orphanages, groups of local women and adolescent girls
8 week Goa project volunteer options All of the 4 week volunteer options plus:
- Teaching in schools
- Working in the ASRO/ HIV home
- Working in a school for the mentally challenged
Goa Volunteer Accommodation Accommodation will depend on location. During the Ashram experience you will live close by in a hotel sharing with one other person. Accommodation in India is basic, you will be in twin share accommodation. You will have simple bathrooms attached - European toilets and showers with a bucket bath in case you want to use hot water.
On this volunteer programme you are required to be responsible for the up keep of your own room as well as helping out with washing up dishes after meals etc. Meals are included and consist mainly of vegetable and sometimes fish curries, Indian breads, rice and fruit.
