Volunteer in Asia

If you would like to volunteer in Asia on your gap year or career break then Gap Year for Grown Ups has a diverse range of truly rewarding projects in the region. If you volunteer in Asia it gives you a chance to explore some beautiful and fascinating countries whilst giving ‘something back' at the same time. If you plan to do some extensive travelling either before or after you volunteer in Asia a real advantage is that (with the exception of Japan) it's one of the most cost effective regions of the world to travel in.

Volunteer in Asia - Tsunami Relief

Why not volunteer in Asia to help alleviate the suffering caused by the tsunami which devastated large parts of Asia on Boxing Day 2004? The ‘Sri Lanka House Building Tsunami Volunteer' programme is one of our most rewarding ‘Volunteer in Asia' projects. When you volunteer in Asia on this programme you help those who have been directly affected by the tsunami by re-building their houses. This is one of our most physically demanding and challenging ‘Volunteer in Asia' programmes - but the sense of personal achievement volunteers gain from the experience is well worth the effort.

Volunteer in Asia - Go Ape!

If you are passionate about wildlife there is plenty of opportunity to volunteer in Asia on a project dedicated to the welfare of endangered or maltreated animals. One of our most unique and exciting ‘Volunteer in Asia' wildlife projects is the ‘Malaysia Orang-utan Interaction.' Orang-utans are the only great ape to be found outside of Africa and - due to a combination of deforestation, hunting and the illegal pet trade - are gravely in danger of becoming extinct. This ‘Volunteer in Asia' programme is a privileged opportunity both to assist with the rehabilitation of captive orang-utans and also to help monitor the movement of wild orang-utans in the rainforests of Borneo.

Volunteer in Asia - Teaching Projects

If you would like to volunteer in Asia by teaching English to underprivileged children, Gap Year for Grown Ups has suitable programmes throughout the region. It's possible to volunteer in Asia teaching English in India, Mongolia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Thailand and China. Teaching English when you volunteer in Asia is a great deal of fun and a fantastic way to meet local people and experience the culture - it looks great on your CV too!

If you would like to volunteer in Asia and want to speak to someone regarding any of our programmes then give us a call.
